KEVIN CHARLES LL.B (Hons), LL.M

Lincolnfields is founded on the life experience of an employment law specialist
Kevin was called to the Bar in 1996 and founded Lincolnfields after a legal career spanning 25 years. In Kevin’s early days as a lawyer he represented clients in the Magistrates Court, County Court and High Court in matters ranging from family law to commercial disputes.
Employment law specialist
Following pupillage at the Chambers of Professor Norman Palmer, 2 Field Court, Kevin began specialising in employment law and working for Abbey Legal Protection Ltd as Employment Legal Advisor, and quickly rose up the ranks to Head of Litigation, where he was responsible for managing a team of four lawyers and a challenging litigation caseload. As well as recruitment, staff management and providing legal advice, Kevin carried out internal investigations.
Following Abbey Legal, Kevin moved to the City where he was employed as an Associate at Doyle Clayton solicitors, representing mainly corporate clients from the banking, finance and insurance sectors as well as senior executives and advising across a full spectrum of HR and employment law issues from equal pay complaints to discrimination and unfair dismissal. Kevin was also able to utilise his skills as an advocate, representing clients in the Employment Tribunal and Employment Appeal Tribunal.
Experienced employment law adviser
Having enjoyed the cut and thrust of life as a City lawyer, Kevin moved to the genteel surroundings of Belgravia where he was employed by the Institute of Practitioners in Advertising as Employment/IP Legal Manager. At the IPA Kevin represented the IPA’s 260 member agencies, providing HR and employment legal advice, training, seminars, reviewing contracts, handbooks and policies and lobbying the Government on behalf of the advertising industry on issues such as TUPE.
Respected lawyer and legal commentator
Kevin’s next move saw him return to private practice as a Director of Crossland Employment Solicitors, where he was instrumental in building the firm from two directors to a thriving practice with five lawyers and two support staff. At Crossland, Kevin provided practical employment law advice to the firm’s diverse client base of individuals and businesses ranging from small start-ups to Plc’s. Kevin was also involved in HR, business management, marketing and PR, which included a weekly slot as an Employment Law expert on Share radio and a regular contributor to specialist periodicals such as Personnel Today, HR Magazine and The Recruiter.
Diverse experience in courts and tribunals
Overall, Kevin has gained extensive experience in management, employment law and employee relations. He has regularly appeared in the Employment and Employment Appeal Tribunal where the ability to combine a critical intellect with practicality and common sense is invaluable.
